Bagiński was born in Bialystok, Podlaskie. The first film he directed was Rain which won two local awards and became the passport to Platige Image company, in which he is a creative director. He later won the British Academy Film Award for his best known Oscar-nominated short film, The Cathedral. This particular film also won first prize at SIGGRAPH, the largest animation and special effects festival. A year later it was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. In 2005, his second short film, Fallen Art received an award at the SIGGRAPH festival. The short film also received a BAFTA Award for Best Short Animation and a Grand Prix for Digital Shorts at Golden Horse Film Festival 2005.
